Dhoni along with Chennai Super Kings players depart for the remaining IPL.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK), led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, left for Dubai on Friday to play the last leg of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
CSK posted a photo of Dhoni with his suitcase as he prepares to leave for the United Arab Emirates.
Dhoni, who retired from international cricket on August 15, 2020, now only plays in the IPL and will be back in action on September 19 when the IPL’s UAE leg commences.
Mumbai Indians, the defending champions, had also left for the UAE earlier in the day. The IPL will return on September 19 with a match between Mumbai Indians and CSK.
On October 8, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals will play the final game of the league stage.
In addition, for the UAE leg of the IPL, the BCCI has decided to do away with contact tracing devices. If any player tests positive for Covid-19 in the UAE, the Indian board has determined that Bubble Integrity Officers will conduct the necessary contact tracing.
The board has issued a 46-page health advisory that lays out all of the guidelines that everyone involved with the IPL must follow in order to ensure the league’s proper operation.
