Jamaican cricket player Christopher Gayle, OD (born September 21, 1979), plays international cricket for West India. From 2007 to 2010, Gayle was captain of the West Indies Test. In all three game modes, Gayle has established countless records. It is the only player to score a triple of centuries for West Indian cricket, a triple hundred in tests, a double hundred in ODIs, a hundred in T20Is. Gayle has struck T20 cricket for the first time ever to 1000 sixes.
On his first senior tour to England in 2000, Jamaican left-hander Gayle earned himself a black mark for disrespecting his elders. Gayle, on the other hand, has benefited from a lack of respect for opposition bowlers. Standing at the top of his game and dominating at the crease, he enjoys carving through the covers with either foot and can decimate even the most conservative opening bowler’s statistics with ease. Moreover, Gayle has flourished in the Twenty20 era like no other batsman before or since.
Gayle’s outstanding hand-eye coordination is one of his many strengths, and it allows him to consistently hit long balls for extra bases. His technique and footwork aren’t his strongest points, but he makes up for it with his other abilities. No other batsman has adapted as well to the 20-over format as he has. Gayle’s 57-ball 117 against South Africa in the World Twenty20 in 2007 was his first century in Twenty20 internationals, and when Twenty20 leagues sprang up around the world and sought international stars, Gayle was the biggest beneficiary.
The IPL’s most feared batsmen for two seasons, 2011 and 2012, smashed more hundreds and sixes than any other batsman in the league by a long shot. Because no batsman has ever dominated Twenty20 cricket as much as he has, it felt right that he should finally own the record for a highest individual score, fastest century, and most sixes in a Twenty20 inning.
However, just because Gayle has a free-striking, aggressive style, doesn’t mean he can’t make it in Test cricket. Since joining West Indies, his pugnacious approach has become an attacking weapon in its own right. Seine 79-ball century at Cape Town in January 2004 was typical of his no-holds-barred style.
Gayle, on the other hand, has shown the ability to bat for extended periods of time and the desire to score big. It took Gayle nearly seven and a half hours to score 165 in Adelaide against Australia in 2009, but the next game he slammed his fifth-fastest Test century off 70 balls, proving that he still prefers to score quickly. His ability to bat for long periods of time was again demonstrated when he batted for almost 10 hours against Sri Lanka and Muralitharan in Galle, scoring 333 and becoming only the fourth player to score two triples in Tests.
In addition, he has developed a brisk non-turning-off spin that has helped him to become a genuine allrounder in the limited-overs game. When he led West Indies, he was known for his relaxed demeanor on the field, which gave the impression that he was uninterested in the game. As a result of his disagreements with the West Indies board, he has been absent from the team far too often. When he was in exile, he was a regular Twenty20 player in various leagues around the world, entertaining crowds in places like Australia, Zimbabwe, and Bangladesh. An international cricket hiatus of several years saw him come back strong against England in 2012, and then against New Zealand in 2013
