A professional cricketer from Sri Lanka, Pathira Vasan Dushmantha Chameera (born 11 January 1992) plays for the Nondescripts Cricket Club and represents his country in all three international formats.
Sri Lanka has produced a number of interesting fast bowlers with the potential to bowl at high speeds over the last decade or so, but with the inherent problem of being injury prone. Dushmantha Chameera is a good example of this, with a smooth flowing run-up and a simple movement that allows him to generate high speeds. Despite his height, he is a shady customer who has the capacity to push batsmen off the pitch.
Chameera first appeared on the Sri Lankan domestic scene in 2012, and she quickly made an impression. He was well regarded, and in 2015, he received a national call-up in all three formats. Injuries, on the other hand, have limited him greatly, particularly in his Test career. Chameera was once considered the quickest bowler in the country, and given his talent, it would be unfortunate if he didn’t reach his full potential, but staying fit is the toughest challenge.
Since its beginning, the IPL has included a number of Sri Lankans, including some of its most famous players. When the Rajasthan Royals bought Chameera at the 2018 auctions, he became the latest player to join the League. If he isn’t hampered by injury, he can provide some firepower to the RR bowling attack. His international career will be no different, as Sri Lanka is in desperate need of someone to lead their pace bowling resources.
